Gillian L. Schauer PhD, MPH

Gillian Schauer, PhD, MPH is a Research Scientist at the Addictions, Drug & Alcohol Institute at the University of Washington (UW).

Outside of her affiliation with UW, Dr. Schauer is the Executive Director of the Cannabis Regulators Association (CANNRA), a national not-for-profit organization that convenes cannabis regulators to share lessons learned and to identify best practices to safeguard public health, promote equity, and promote regulatory certainty. For the past decade, Dr. Schauer has been a Senior Consultant to a number of federal and state agencies, working on tobacco and cannabis policy, epidemiology, and research translation. Her consulting has included work with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Institute on Drug Abuse, and several state government agencies. Dr. Schauer has more than 65 peer-reviewed publications on tobacco and cannabis, and was a Senior Editor on the 2020 Surgeon General’s Report on Smoking Cessation.
