Northwest ATTC webinar: Eliminating Hepatitis C (Jan 22, 12pm PT)

12/16/2024

Join the Northwest Addiction Technology Transfer Center (ATTC) at the UW Addictions, Drug & Alcohol Institute on January 22, 2025 (12-1pm PT) to learn about Hepatitis C from the Executive Director of the Hepatitis Education Project (HEP), Apoorva Mallya!

Mallya will be talking about the prevalence of Hepatitis C virus (HCV) in the U.S., a disease that has devastating impacts across the body and is a leading cause of liver cancer.

There is a 98% effective cure for HCV that is easy to administer and has few side effects, something that has spurred the public health community toward a goal of eradicating the disease completely.

However, reaching elimination would require a major increase in treatment, as less than 1/3rd of people diagnosed with hepatitis C have been treated.

A broad group of providers and organizations, particularly those serving people who currently or formerly use drugs, will need to begin offering or expand hepatitis C services to their patients.

Join the Northwest ATTC and Apoorva Mallya on January 22nd to learn more about HCV and potential pathways to scale up these services!
