Drug-checking can help engage participants and provide insights into the composition of different illicit drugs, including methamphetamine.

In this session, WA State’s Community Drug Checking Network discussed drug checking services and the ways their work relates to methamphetamine and the folks who use it!

  • What technologies are used to check what’s in meth?
  • How can data guide conversations with people who use meth?

Speaker: Caleb Banta-Green, PhD, MPH, MSW (UW ADAI)

This session focused on emerging drug trends in WA State and the implications of recent mortality and drug checking data for MOUD patients and providers. Dr. Banta-Green shared insights into the drug supply from police evidence testing and community drug checking network results, and reviewed recent data on drug-involved deaths. He also discussed how drug checking services inform harm reduction strategies and share updates about drug checking initiatives across the state.
