Buprenorphine is a life-saving treatment for opioid use disorder, yet many people stop treatment earlier than recommended, either by choice or because they face barriers to ongoing care.
In this webinar, sponsored by the Northwest ATTC, Pacific Southwest ATTC, and the Western States Node of the NIDA Clinical Trials Network, experts Ingrid Binswanger, MD, MPH, MS, and Jason Glanz, PhD, MS (both from Kaiser Permanente Colorado) will explore new evidence from the NIDA Clinical Trials Network on what happens after people discontinue buprenorphine, including whether longer treatment is associated with better outcomes.
They’ll also talk about what these findings mean for patient education, shared decision-making, and how providers can better counsel patients about treatment duration from the very beginning. A clearer understanding of the optimal length of treatment can help patients make informed decisions and may improve both treatment retention and long-term outcomes.
