The Addictions, Drug & Alcohol Institute (ADAI) works to stimulate and facilitate UW research on alcohol and drug use and addiction through its Small Grants Program, which awards funds to UW researchers (faculty and research scientists or mentored pre-doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows) for pilot studies and developmental research.

Applications for the spring cycle are being accepted now. All applications are due by 5:00pm on Tuesday, March 15, 2022.

Cannabis Small Grants

Research is supported across a broad range of study related to cannabis use, from pharmacology to clinical and psychosocial research.

  • Earliest start date: July 1st, 2022
  • End date: June 30th, 2023. All funds must be spent by this date due to provisions of the state’s allocations of the Dedicated Marijuana Fund)
  • Award limit: $30,000 to faculty and research scientists; $20,000 to mentored pre-doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows.

Regular Small Grants (all alcohol and drug topics)
