Bryan Hartzler, PhD, and Denna Vandersloot, MEd, have launched a new center at ADAI: the Center for Advancing Addiction Health Services (CAAHS).

Spanning a science-to-service continuum, CAAHS works to increase adoption and implementation of useful treatment and recovery practices by health organizations that serve people with substance use disorders.

Dr. Hartzler and Ms. Vandersloot offer a collective four decades of experience providing consultation, training, and technical assistance to healthcare organizations and workforce members, supporting the implementation of a range of useful practices, including:

  • Motivational interviewing
  • Screening, Brief Intervention, & Referral to Treatment
  • Contingency management
  • Substance use disorder/Mental health service integration
  • Recovery-oriented systems of care

CAAHS encompasses the work of the Northwest Addiction Technology Transfer Center (Northwest ATTC) and its regional contribution to the national Opioid Response Network (ORN), numerous sponsored implementation projects, and Dr. Hartzler’s health services research.
