ADAI Small Grant Awards for UW Research on Marijuana

ADAI awarded four Small Grants for Marijuana Research in the September 2019 cycle. The goal of the Small Grants Program is to stimulate research at the University of Washington by supporting promising pilot projects which may ultimately be developed into full studies with outside grant support.

• Michael R. Bruchas, PhD, Professor, Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine; Pharmacology; Center for Neurobiology of Addiction, Pain, and Emotion. Dissecting Cannabinoid-Neurotensin Neuromodulation in Paraventricular Thalamic Reward and Aversion Circuits.
• Marina Epstein, PhD, Research Scientist, Social Development Research Group, Social Work. Do Current Parenting Interventions Work for Parents Who Use Marijuana? Effective Strategies for Preventing Underage Marijuana Use among their Adolescent Children.
• Benjamin Land, PhD, Research Assistant Professor, Pharmacology. Cellular Mechanisms Underlying Cannabinoid Enhancement of Opioid Pain Relief.
• Garth Terry, MD, PhD, Acting Assistant Professor, Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences; VA Mental Illness Research, Education, and Clinical Center (MIRECC). Feasibility of Prazosin for Cannabis Use Disorder in Individuals With or Without Post-traumatic Stress Disorder.
