U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) joined community leaders in Spokane, WA, this week for a ceremonial groundbreaking of a new integrated behavioral health center being spearheaded by Frontier Behavioral Health (FBH) and the Community Health Association of Spokane (CHAS Health).

Sen. Cantwell secured $2 million through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to construct the center, which will offer primary care, substance use disorder treatment, behavioral health, pharmacy, and care navigation services in a single location, with the goal of improving access to care for low-income patients struggling with complex health needs.

During the event, Sen. Cantwell gave a shout-out to the work of Caleb Banta-Green, PhD, MPH, MSW, Director of ADAI’s Center for Community-Engaged Drug Education, Epidemiology & Research, saying “Many of our legislators here have heard of the work of Dr. Banta-Green from the University of Washington in developing one-stop treatment in health engagement hubs, and this is a prime example of that [type of] engagement hub. The low barrier response decreases overdoses mortality rates by 68%, an astounding accomplishment that should be replicated throughout the United States.”
